A few minutes down the road from ‘Glenayr Farm’ in the town of Windeyer, the area remains popular for gold fossicking. There is a fossicking area adjacent to the hotel, on Long Creek and adjacent to the Meroo Creek Bridge on the Mudgee approach to the village.
One of the best things about our accommodation is the night sky. With no light pollution the stars are just incredible. The area is considered one of the premier stargazing sites in Australia. If there’s one thing humans across the globe enjoy, it’s looking up at the dark night sky and feeling awe. The movements of celestial bodies in the heavens have filled us with both curiosity and a sense of beauty, sometimes coupled with insignificance and loneliness. Gazing up at the stars can be a humbling and mystifying experience. If you want to take star gazing to the next level, Mudgee Observatory is a 10 minute drive away, where a good variety of telescopes and binoculars are available for visitors to use as well as conducted tours of the night sky.
Or for those who crave adventure, Mudgee has so much on offer. Please see a sample below or for more information, please visit www.visitmudgeeregion.com.au
